• have already received the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation
• and are practicing Catholics (attending Sunday liturgy on a regular basis).

The program consists of:

• registering at the Newman Center
• attending all 8 preparation sessions
• securing a copy of your baptismal certificate
• being present for the Confirmation Ceremony itself

Session Dates 7 Times (all sessions are on Wednesdays from 7:30pm – 8:30pm):

2. 7 April
3. 14 April
4. 21 April
5. 28 April
6. 5 May
7. 12 May
8. 19 May

Confirmation Date: 23 May at 6:00pm at the College Mass.

If you’re looking to live with friends with similar values and a commitment to our Catholic faith, you ought to think about our Newman Community houses.

Our community houses are:

• places where students choose to live a more deliberate Christian lifestyle.
• places where students  support each other
• environments in which students can challenge each other to grow as God’s people.

If you’re interested, visit the “Community House” pages at the top of our slonewman.org home page.  You can also call the Newman Center and talk with Linda or Frs. John or Kevin.

We would also encourage you, to contact one of the current community house members to get a better sense of things (practical and spiritual).  If you don’t know who they are or how to contact them, call the Newman Center

Fr. John and Fr. Kevin are available at the Newman Center Monday through Thursday.  You can drop by the Center or you can make an appointment to share in this important preparation for Christmas.

Many parishes have Communal Reconciliation Services as well during this season.  If you don’t have time these last two weeks before break, check out your home parish calendar.

Dates for Reconciliation Services in SLO are:

• Old Mission / 14 December @ 7:00pm
• Nativity of Our Lady / 15 December @ 5:30pm

Happy Advent!  Good preparations!

Fall retreat is coming up!!! It will take start on October 30th and end November 1st. The retreat is called “Life After Mass.” We will be focusing on…well, life after mass. What you as an individual do in everyday life. There will be a lot of time for personal reflection as well as group discussion. It will be a lot of fun and hey, you may learn something about yourself.

The cost is $55 and is due on Thursday. Please pay Newman and not anyone from fall retreat, but we will take donations for our college fund. If you aren’t able to pay the full amount, talk to Linda, Fr. Kevin, or Fr. John. Something can be arranged. The cost is for renting Rancho El Chorro and food. No profit is made.

Things to bring:

Bible
Change of Clothes
Shower items
Shoes
Blankets
Pillows
Sleeping Bag

Things not to bring:
Make up
Homework (if you have to you can)

Please arrive at Newman at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. If you have a car, please inform one of the members of Faith House.

New Eucharistic Ministers and new Readers need to attend one brief training session.  The dates of the trainings are:

• 30 September @ 7:30pm at the Newman Center
• 1 October @ 7:30pm at the Newman Center

Those signing up for Altar Servers and Ushers will be contacted by the coordinators for those ministries.
